Book Recommendations: Let's Pretend This Never Happened: (A Mostly True Memoir) by Jenny Lawson

Lorin Recommends: Let's Pretend This Never Happened: (A Mostly True Memoir) by Jenny Lawson

Those of you who read thebloggess.com are already familiar with Jenny Lawson. Her blog is raunchy, touching, and seriously fall-on-the-ground funny. And her book, eleven years in the making, offers all of that and more.

Don’t read it if you’re offended by jokes about drugs, sex, Texas, babies, or…well, if really anything offends you. Seriously, anything. Do read it if you want to laugh A LOT, carry a book with you wherever you go because it’s too great to put down, and learn more than you ever wanted to about Jenny Lawson’s childhood (one highlight: accidentally running INSIDE the dead carcass of deer her father was gutting), marriage (including the now famous story of how a six-foot metal chicken named Beyonce ended up on her doorstep), life as a writer or job as mother.

Hilarious footnotes, photographs, and parantheticals add to the fun. It is an irreverent, comical, really satisfying book with as much to move you as make you giggle. Check it out.
